Borzois
Borzois (also known as Russian Wolfhounds) were bred by the Czars of Russia as
sighthounds with extreme speed, agility and courage for the pursuit of wild
game, especially wolves. In appearance, a Borzoi resembles the body style of a
Greyhound, in nature but with longer flowing hair. Similar in temperament to a
Greyhound, Borzois are quiet and gentle in nature. |

In Russia (prior to 1861), great hunts were conducted in which beaters
accompanied by a pack of Foxhounds would dislodge the game, most notably the
wolf, from the forest to the open field where Borzoi would pursue, capture and
pin their prey.
Today, Borzois commonly appear in advertisements and with fashion models. |
